About Shrewsbury Town F.C.
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is a League Two team based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. They are commonly known as “Shrews” and their other nicknames including “Salop”, “Town” or “Blues”.
Formed in 1886, it was elected into the Football League in 1950. For most of the club’s history it was based at the Gay Meadow next to the River Severn. However, in 2007 they were located to New Meadow, which is known as Greenhouse Meadow for sponsorship purposes. Greenhous Meadow has a capacity of 9,875 seats and it is comprised of four separate stands.
The club has played in all of the bottom three divisions in various guises since it was elected into thee Football League in 1950. Shrewsbury Town F.C. has also competed in the Welsh Cup and has won it six times, which is a record for an English team.
