Frequently Asked Questions

Roller Grill Countertop Electric Fryer RFE8D FAQs

Which commercial frying operations is the Roller Grill countertop fryer RFE8D designed for?

It is designed for high-volume frying of fresh or frozen chips, with an output of up to 30 kg/Hr when cooking fresh chips. Its twin-tank arrangement supports catering operations that need substantial chip production while retaining separate control over each batch.

What oil and basket capacity does the Roller Grill countertop fryer RFE8D provide?

The fryer has 2 x 8L tanks, giving a combined oil capacity of 16Ltr, and comes with 2 baskets. Each basket measures 320 x 128 x 145 mm, and the recommended maximum load is 1.2kg of chips per basket.

Can the 2 tanks on the Roller Grill RFE8D electric fryer be controlled separately?

Yes. Each tank has its own thermostat control, allowing the operator to adjust the tanks independently for different batches. This provides useful flexibility when products require separate cooking settings or demand varies during service.

How does the cold zone in the Roller Grill RFE8D twin-tank fryer help with oil management?

Food debris settles into a cooler zone below the heating elements, where it is less likely to carbonise. Reducing the exposure of settled particles to intense heat helps preserve oil quality and prolong the useful life of each oil batch.

What construction and countertop format does the Roller Grill RFE8D electric fryer have?

It is a silver stainless-steel countertop fryer designed to sit on a standard-depth counter. The unit is 400 mm wide and has no undershelf, making it suitable for integration into a counter-based frying area rather than use as a freestanding fryer with storage below.

What electrical supply does the Roller Grill RFE8D countertop fryer use?

The fryer uses 2 x 3kW of power at 230V on a single-phase supply. Its two 3kW sides use separate single-phase 13A plug connections, so 2 suitable socket outlets are required.

What operating and safety controls are fitted to the Roller Grill RFE8D twin-tank fryer?

Each tank has its own thermostat control and an additional safety thermostat for automatic shutdown if overheating occurs. Micro switches prevent operation when the common control unit is incorrectly positioned, helping ensure that the heating assemblies are properly seated before use.

How is oil drained from the Roller Grill RFE8D electric fryer?

The fryer has a large-capacity oil-drainage arrangement with 2 front taps, one for each tank. This allows the tanks to be emptied individually after the appliance and oil have cooled, supporting controlled oil filtering, replacement and cleaning.

Do the Roller Grill RFE8D fryer baskets have heat-resistant handles?

Yes. The 2 baskets have fixed insulated, heat-resistant handles designed for frequent operation during service. Operators should still treat the fryer and its metal surfaces as hot equipment and use the basket handles when lifting or lowering food.

Is a matching chip-holding unit available for the Roller Grill RFE8D fryer?

Yes. The optional CW12 Chip Scuttle is styled to sit alongside the fryer, creating a coordinated modular cooking and serving arrangement. It is an additional product rather than part of the fryer package.

What warranty comes with the Roller Grill RFE8D countertop fryer?

The fryer includes a 2-year parts and labour warranty, providing support for both replacement components and qualifying repair labour during the warranty period.

How much does the Roller Grill RFE8D electric fryer weigh?

The fryer weighs 30 kg. This should be considered when selecting a counter, positioning the appliance and planning any movement of the unit while it is cool, empty and disconnected.

How can I identify the Roller Grill countertop fryer RFE8D when ordering?

The brand is Roller Grill and the model reference is RFE 8D. The pack quantity is 1, meaning an order unit represents one complete fryer package.

What baskets and lids are supplied with the Roller Grill RFE8D twin-tank fryer?

The fryer package contains 2 baskets with fixed insulated handles and 2 lids with handles. The lids should be kept nearby for covering the cooled fryer after use or for dealing with an oil fire, but must not be fitted while frying.

How should the Roller Grill RFE8D countertop fryer be positioned?

Place it on a stable, solid and heat-resistant surface with easy access to the electrical connection. Maintain at least 10 cm between the fryer and a wall or partition, and do not position it close to combustible materials.

How should oil be added before starting the Roller Grill RFE8D electric fryer?

Close both drain taps and add oil only while the heating elements are cold, keeping the level between the MIN and MAX marks in each tank. Do not use solid fats because they can damage the heating elements. Never switch on an empty tank, because heating elements that are not immersed in oil can create a fire risk.

What do the indicator lights on the Roller Grill RFE8D fryer show?

A green light shows that the relevant side of the fryer is switched on. The orange temperature light remains illuminated while the oil is heating and goes out when the selected temperature has been reached and that tank is ready for cooking.

How should the Roller Grill RFE8D twin-tank fryer be shut down and drained?

Turn both thermostat controls to zero, disconnect the fryer and let the appliance and oil cool. If the oil will be reused, open the appropriate drain tap and pass the oil through a suitable filter to remove cooking residue before cleaning the fryer.

How should the Roller Grill RFE8D countertop fryer be cleaned?

Allow the appliance and oil to cool completely, disconnect the power and remove the control unit. Clean with non-abrasive products, warm soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Never immerse a control unit, expose the fryer to a water jet or damage the heating-element wires and thermostat probes.

What should an operator do if the Roller Grill RFE8D fryer overheats?

The safety thermostat automatically stops the affected side. Disconnect the fryer, let it cool and check the oil level. Add oil if the level is low or replace old oil before resetting the control beneath the control box; other recurring faults require qualified service attention.
