Inspired by Josiah Wedgwood’s innovative methods, the first firing reaches higher temperatures (up to around 1200°C), fully vitrifying the body to close particle gaps, create a dense, impervious structure, and build incredible inherent strength. The second firing (for glazing and decoration) is at a lower temperature, preserving vibrant, fade-resistant colours and enabling brighter, more expressive designs that last.

Glazing uses Churchill’s specially developed Eco Glaze system – formulated for professional environments with superior resistance to scratching, fading, crazing, and dishwasher wear. Every stage includes continuous quality checks in their on-site UKAS-accredited laboratory: from raw materials through to the final piece, with thousands of tests annually to ensure consistency, vitrification standards, and mechanical performance.
